I am a licensed K-8 educator with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from UNLV, and am currently earning my Master's Degree in Literacy from the American College of Education. I have been teaching in the Clark County School District in Las Vegas, NV for the past 8 years, and have also taught abroad in England while completing my teacher licensure program.
I have experience educating students in grades K-3, and primarily work with younger learners working to develop their reading and math skills. I believe in a hands-on and interactive approach to education, and love incorporating games into my lessons to truly make learning stick for my students. I am excited to offer my expertise as an educator to help identify your child's learning needs and reach their goals!
"Mrs. McMillian was the teacher for my twins during COVID. She made learning from home fun! She was willing to try new things to see what worked best for the kids in her class. My daughter struggles with math and would often say- “I don’t like math” or “I’m not good at math.” Well, Mrs. McMillan changed that! So even during COVID and my kids learning at home, she made a difference. My daughter changed her perspective on math. She may still say- “Math isn’t easy for me” but she doesn’t give up anymore and knows she can do it! I miss Mrs. McMillan. She is an excellent teacher and my twins were lucky to have her."

Private tutoring services offer an educational experience tailored to your child's needs. In a traditional school setting, learning is often done in whole-group or small-group settings to accommodate as many students' needs as possible. However, with one-on-one tutoring, your child's needs are front and center, and targeted instruction can be delivered to fill any gaps in their learning as well as challenge them in their areas of strength.

The short answer is YES, but with some caveats. Tutoring is effective when delivered by an experienced tutor or teacher, delivered in one-on-one settings, and is focused on the learning process. Tutoring is not glorified homework help or finding the answers to specific problems, but rather, is focused on how to be a successful and independent learner as a whole.
